Fixed Force Gas Spring for Triad WelderIt’s called a Fixed Force Gas Spring, or Fixed Force Gas Shock. And believe it or not, it is critical to weld integrity and the overall performance of your Sinclair Triad Wedge Welder.

As the gas seeps out of the cylinder it relieves the amount of pressure being applied to the hot wedge when it is engaged in the welding position between the green silicon rollers . Once the wedge is engaged and begins to drive, the pressure of the spinning rollers will push the wedge out away from the rollers. That translates into less wedge surface coming into contact with the fabric being welded. And the consequence is a subpar weld. And you do not want your product going out to your customer like that.

Here is a simple method you can use to determine if the Fixed Force Gas Spring (part #392055) installed on your Sinclair Wedge Welder is functioning properly.

Rather than using the wedge engagement lever to move the wedge from the park to the engage position, try using the spring itself. First make sure your machine is unplugged and cool to the touch of course. Simply push the wedge into the weld position and pull it back to park. You should experience a good amount resistance in either direction. If you can move it with ease, you should think about replacing the part before you have to start replacing product. Our replacement part, which is identical to the original equipment manufacturers, includes a new end cap and safety clip in the cost.
