It’s time to replace your Triad Welder’s Hot Wedge... Or is it?

When is the right time to replace the hot wedge in your Sinclair wedge welder?

Are your welds failing right before your eyes? Or is your machine only welding half the width of the hot wedge? Those both sound like sure signs that your wedge needs replacement, right? Not so fast, my friends.

Before you get out your credit card and order a new wedge, consider this:

Sinclair Triad Thermal WedgeIncorrect wedge alignment can cause no end of problems when it comes to producing an acceptable weld. I cannot count how many times an operator brought me a wedge and told me it was kaput - when it was perfectly fine.

I’ve seen machines producing the worst welds imaginable, only to discover that the hot wedge is catastrophically out of alignment - so badly misaligned that cranking your weld temperature to 1000 celsius will still not produce an acceptable weld.

Half-width welds can be the result of your wedge being slightly out of adjustment - just enough to produce half a weld.

Time well spent?

It only takes 5 or 10 minutes to resolve a hot wedge alignment issue. If the issue was an alignment problem, good for you. Time well spent when you consider the alternative will cost you $399.00. Well, $399 is what you would pay here for a replacement wedge.

Play it safe

Always play it safe and be sure to have a spare wedge on hand - or, better yet - a small inventory of our best selling Triad replacement parts. Remember: Down-time is the enemy of profit.
